Since signing on with SWGA Politics and speaking at the April 15th Tea Party in Albany, Tom has found himself in the press a time or two.  He’s not content to just write about stuff, but has to butt his fat nose into the mix as well.

Newspapers

Letter to the editor – Albany Herald ( April 28, 2009) – Tom takes the State of Georgia to task for it’s restrictions against gambling and how it drains resources that could be used to combat other crimes like robbery and murder.

Duo brings politics to the blogosphere – Albany Herald Cover ( May 29, 2009 ) – Tom and SWGA Politics partner Jeff Sexton take center stage and discuss the number 1 political blog for Southwest Georgia, SWGA Politics.

Tea Partying in Plains – Americus Times-Recorder ( July 4, 2009) – A good article about the July 4th Tea Party held in Plains, GA.  Other media outlets left shortly after the first couple of speakers, and Tom was the final scheduled speaker.  The Americus paper stayed for the whole event and gave a good description of what all happened.

Tom’s Letter to the Editor – Albany Herald ( September 4, 2009) – Tom’s response to someone upset by the presence of firearms at various town halls.  The rhetoric in the original letter smacked of typical anti-gun alarmism, something that Tom won’t let stand.  Unfortunately, he was limited by the 250 word limit.  Second Amendment rights is a touchy subject for Tom.

New political blog slated to launch – Albany Herald (April 4, 2009) – Article about Tom’s project, Laws-n-Sausages, a locally focused political blog that has writers from across the ideological spectrum.

Television

Libertarians Hope to Start Albany Chapter (May 2, 2009) – Tom, serving as Vice Chairman for the Libertarian Party of Southwest Georgia, is interviewed in regards to his hopes for the local party affiliate.

Sign Ordinance makes relocation tough for business owner (June 16, 2009) – Tom is consulted regarding a local sign ordinance that was making business difficult for a great number of local businesses.  Tom had been fighting this ordinance in his capacity as a co-owner and contributor to SWGA Politics when the opportunity came to speak out to the media in defense of local business and property rights.

Patriots plan to pack city commission meeting (August 24, 2010) – Tom was asked to speak for the SWGA Patriots regarding the misuse of public funds and that groups efforts to pack the Albany City Commission meeting with angry and upset voters.  As an Albany resident and activist, Tom was asked and happily accepted.  The story was a video story, but video is available on this piece.
